Under Boston · STOP 02 · Haymarket
The building with the farmers' market is deeper underground than it is tall.
The brick building over Haymarket station with the farmers' market inside goes deeper underground than it goes up, because mostly it's a lung for the highway tunnel beneath it. In the crosswalk out front, an artist cast the market's trash in bronze in 1976. It has been dug up twice since, once by a state crosswalk contractor with no warning to the artist. It's back.
This is stop 2 of Under Boston. Walk it - any two stops are free.
